Mission : The Balance Sheet Accountant (m/f/d) is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the Group's balance sheet accounts. This role involves preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, analyzing financial data, and supporting the month-end and year-end closing processes.
What your day will look like
- Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and consistency of bookings across all group entities.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in balance sheet accounts, ensuring all balances are reconciled within agreed deadlines.
- Conduct detailed analysis of balance sheet account movements and identify any discrepancies or irregularities. Provide explanations and recommendations to management.
- Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes ensuring all journal entries relating to balance sheet accounts are properly documented.
- Review and analyse balance sheet accounts to ensure compliance with accounting policies and regulation.
- Work closely with other finance teams (Treasury, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable etc.) to ensure proper accounting for transactions impacting the balance sheet.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance the accuracy of the balance sheet and to strengthen internal controls and financial reporting.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate routine tasks related to balance sheet accounting.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP) and regulatory requirements.
- Support the preparation of financial statements and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure accurate and timely financial data.
What you need to fulfill the role
Experience (technical / leadership)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- ACA/ACCA or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years PQE in balance sheet reconciliation and reporting or a similar role.
Functional expertise or method expertise
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail with a passion for financial accuracy.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Proactive and solution oriented.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, transformative environment.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Office Suite.
