What your day will look like

Mission
The Financial Accountant is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial data within the general ledger. This role involves preparing and reviewing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with the month-end and year-end closing processes. The position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and excellent organizational skills.
 
General Ledger Maintenance:
  • Record and reconcile all transactions in the company’s General Ledger, ensuring that all financial data is accurate and up-to-date for month and year end close
  • Ensure proper accounting of assets, liabilities, equity, revenue, and expenses in compliance with internal accounting policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with other departments (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll etc) to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and data flow.
  • Prepare and review journal entries (accruals, prepayments, foreign exchange, payroll) to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Conduct account analysis to ensure that entries and balances are correct and provide explanations for discrepancies between actual and budgeted financial results.
  • Support with the set up and integration of previously out-sourced entities into the ERP system
  • Perform account reconciliations of assigned accounts and ensure that discrepancies are identified and resolved in a timely manner
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts particularly with regard to overheads
  • Manage the tracking, recording, and reporting of tangible and intangible fixed assets and ensure proper depreciation schedules.
  • Prepare tax filings and associated payments including VAT, corporation tax, and other relevant tax reports.
Reporting:
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements in accordance with local GAAP
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Provide financial information to support the Company’s Environmental, Social and Governance reporting
Process Improvement:
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency of the general ledger function.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline and automate routine tasks related to general ledger accounting.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting systems, policies, and procedures
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data accuracy.

What you need to fulfill the role

Experience (technical / leadership) :
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in general ledger accounting or a similar role.
Functional expertise or method expertise :
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Strong attention to detail with a passion for financial accuracy.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive and solution oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines 
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, NetSuite) and Microsoft Office Suite.
