What your day will look like
Mission
The Technical Accounting Manager (f/m/d) is responsible for supporting the accurate and compliant application of accounting standards, coordinating operational accounting activities within the Financial Accounting team, and providing technical guidance on complex or judgement-based accounting matters. The role includes responsibilities related to review, supervision, and support, without full managerial authority.
Main responsibilities
- Provide technical support to the Finance team regarding the correct application of IFRS, local GAAP for UK and Germany and (or relevant GAAP) and internal accounting policies.
- Analyse and document accounting treatments for non-routine or complex transactions.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of internal accounting policies, procedures, and guidance materials.
- Contribute to the preparation of technical accounting memoranda and documentation required for internal decision-making or audit purposes.
- Ensure consistent application of accounting standards across all relevant processes.
- Coordinate day-to-day tasks within the Financial Accounting team, ensuring appropriate prioritisation and timely completion of activities.
- Review work prepared by team members, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules, to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Provide guidance, feedback, and knowledge transfer to team members, supporting their technical development.
- Assist with the onboarding and integration of new team members within the Accounting function.
- Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Contribute to the preparation and review of statutory financial statements and supporting notes.
- Support consolidation and group reporting processes as applicable.
- Ensure that internal control requirements related to accounting processes are met and propose improvements where necessary.
- Prepare documentation and evidence required by external auditors and respond to audit queries related to technical or judgemental matters.
- Support the implementation of audit recommendations and ensure alignment with internal control standards.
- Maintain proper documentation for accounting positions taken, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and traceability.
- Collaborate with departments such as FP&A, Tax, Legal, Sales, Finance Operations and HR to assess accounting implications of contracts, projects, and business activities.
- Communicate accounting requirements and outcomes clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
- Participate in cross-functional projects requiring technical accounting input.
What you need to fulfill the role
Experience (technical / leadership)
- Certified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA or local equivalent in Romania) or in advanced stages of qualification, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Solid understanding of IFRS, local GAAP for UK and Germany (or relevant GAAP) and ability to apply technical principles in practice.
- Good knowledge of financial reporting and internal control principles.
- Ability to coordinate and support a team in day-to-day operational matters.
Functional expertise or method expertise
- Strong analytical skills with ability to assess complex accounting matters.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly.
- High level of accuracy, organisation, and professional integrity.
- Proactive approach and ability to manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
